Yesterday Icnea was invited to the VII Day of Tourism organized by AAT (Association of Tourist Apartments from Costa Daurada and Terres de l’Ebre), where issues regarding bureaucracy, politics and best local practices were discussed.
The event was celebrated in Mont-Roig del Camp where more than 50 professionals, the association and local administrations participated.
The ban on tourist activity in tourist apartments, the increase in fees and how the management of short-term license is affected by the owner’s communities agreements were discussed.
If an owner has not registered a tourist apartment, he is not allowed to use it as tourist property. Also, if the owner has the properly registered as an establishment for tourist use, he cannot make use of it as a private residence.
However, there are some drawbacks to be solved when an owner wants to manage a tourist apartment for a season and the rest of the season use it as a private residence. This scenario is not covered by the law because tourist properties and private residences are paying diferent taxes.
Finally, we closed the seasson discussing how to sell experiences in the tourist accommodation market in order to increase sales in the current tourist situation.
